The main body is a large cylindrical tank (called the 'barrel') that contains the engine, dust container, filter, blow outlet, etc. The hose, nozzle, etc. are connected to this barrel.
The drum is on wheels (usually), so you can roll it instead of carrying it. The size (18 liters) is large enough for long sessions without the need to empty it frequently.
The dust container is integrated into the drum and often has a removable interface (for disposal and cleaning). The drum cover is usually airtight for suction and contains the filter, etc..
There are handles for carrying or emptying the barrel (dust disposal handles) integrated into the body of the barrel or attached to it. Additionally, parts of the barrel may have hooks / mounts for hoses or accessories..
The shape of the 'drum' allows for air volume and flow - more internal capacity and room for airflow paths that assist in high-power engines like 2100 watts.
